Frequently Asked Questions
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. This tool uses PDF-lib and PDF.js, which are JavaScript libraries that run entirely inside your browser. Your PDF never leaves your computer — it is read from local memory, processed locally, and the output is saved directly to your downloads folder. No data is transmitted to any server.
What page range format should I use?
Use commas for individual pages and dashes for ranges. For example:
1-3,5,8-10 extracts pages 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 9 and 10. You can mix individual pages and ranges in any order. Is there a file size or page limit?
There is no enforced limit. The practical limit depends on your device's available RAM. PDFs up to several hundred MB and thousands of pages typically work fine in modern browsers. For very large files, thumbnail generation may take a few seconds.
Will the extracted PDF keep the original quality?
Yes. PDF-lib copies the selected pages directly from the source document without any re-encoding or compression. The extracted PDF retains the exact same resolution, fonts, images and formatting as the original.
Can I extract pages from a password-protected PDF?
Password-protected PDFs require the password to be unlocked before processing. If your PDF is encrypted, you'll need to unlock it first. Open it in your system's PDF viewer, remove the password protection, save it, then upload the unlocked version here.
